- You will ignore or discount information that you disagree with.
- People will tell you what you want to hear.
- Yes, the Curse of Knowledge applies to you.
- You assume that everyone has your set of experiences and you wonder why they don’t see things your way.
- Knowledge has a half-life, yours included.
- Your circle of competence is smaller than you think,
- As the world changes your competence tend to shrink.
- There are dragons in the waters between what you know and what you think you know, Don’t ignore them.
- Beware of amygdala hijacking. Emotions override thinking.
- Ideology may be a good compass, but it’s a dangerous map.
- Yes, you are biased; you’re just not aware of how much.
- Trust, but verify.
- Yes, some people ARE trying to deceive you.
- Do you want the truth, or do you just want to win.
- Truth can be ugly.
- “Mirror, mirror on the wall ….”
- Motivated reasoning breeds false confidence.
- Knowledge and preparation breed real confidence.
