Intercepting the Future
I’m in the process of creating a new course series and one of the parts is “Intercepting the Future.” So, I’ve been thinking about what I might see at the ten-year horizon. Here are a few things that are on the edge of my mental radar screen. I thought I’d share them with you.
- Gen Alpha is in school now and will be 22 years old in 2032. They will be different (just like all generations before them). I’ve been interviewing school founders and principals — the “kids” are already different and world of work will NOT be ready for them.
- There are MANY different cryptocurrencies today. But if we learn from the past, there will only be few winners in ten years. (Learn from the past: about a hundred automobile brands in the early 20th century — only a handful today.)
- Electric vehicles may be the future of ground transportation. BUT, where and how will we recycle and dispose of all the dead batteries. NIMBY!
- Driving across the U.S. will be dangerous! Why? Our infrastructure is decaying and bridges will be falling down! And congress does not have the political will to spend the needed money (they’re too focused on reelections and “control.”)
- Water wars (legal and otherwise) will drive people from the West. We might even see an eastward migration to the great lakes. And the water-rich areas will NOT want all these water-migrants.
I have more things on my radar, but would love to hear from you. What do you see on your ten-year horizon?
Never miss out!
